The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which was suspended due to increasing tension between India and Pakistan, is set to resume after the recent ceasefire agreement between the two nations. The Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) is actively working to resume the tournament, which is under discussion to finalize schedule and places.
BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla confirmed that keeping in mind the new development, a meeting would be held to discuss the league resume. BCCI is considering hosting the remaining matches in South Indian cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore, which are safe and less affected by recent struggles. The objective of this scheme is to ensure the safety of players and employees while maintaining the integrity of the tournament.
The league was suspended for a week, in which many foreign players were returning home amidst security concerns. However, with stabilizing the situation, the BCCI has begun to recall these players to participate in the remaining matches. The resumption of IPL is important not only for sports but also for related broadcasting and commercial interests.
